Scholarship Auditions 2018

(for Current Undergraduate Students who will be continuing their undergraduate music studies at an accredited Alabama College or University for the 2018-2019 academic year)

$2,000 First Place Instrumental Stuart Mims Scholarship
$1,500 Second Place Instrumental

$1,000 Best Performance Award selected from the Three First Place Winners
Walter Sechriest Award – an additional $1,000 for the overall winner.

Judges will select First and Second Place winners in each category. No student who has won the first prize (or shared the prize for first place) in any previous year will be eligible to compete again.

Winners must use the award during the 2018-2019 academic years for undergraduate work in the above fields at an accredited college in the State of Alabama. The maximum age for contestants is 23 years (at the time of competition).

The application form should be completed in full and mailed to Margery Whatley, 3030 Overhill Rd, Mountain Brook, AL 35223, with your application fee of $25.00 (payable to the Guild of the Birmingham Music Club). Applications must be received or postmarked by February 16, 2018. All auditions are in person; tape recordings cannot be accepted. Winners Perform for the Guild

The First Place winners will be honored and will perform on the Program of the Spring Luncheon for the Guild of the Birmingham Music Club on Friday, April 6, 2018. Failure to participate may result in forfeiture of the scholarship award.
